Self-Organized Learning Environment = SOLE Self-Organized Learning Environments (SOLEs) are created when kids work as a community to answer their own vibrant questions by using the internet.
HERE ARE THE BASIC RULES Children choose their own groups of four and their own inquiry questions to explore.
Children use one computer only in their group of 4.
Children can look to see what other groups are doing and take that information back to their own group.
Children can talk with each other and discuss with other groups.
Kids can move around freely.
Participants have the opportunity to tell their friends what they learned after the SOLE.
Any questions can be written down on a sheet out the front during the inquiry activity. Timing:
5 mins. = Introductory discussion about the question.
40 mins. = Students work online to write information about the question
10-20 mins= Children share what they discovered and learnt. Any questions are discussed.
